Crochet- ripple afghan. too ambitious 1st project?
You have to realize that crocheting an afghan is a long term project, and you will have to be motivated to finish it. Ripple afghans are lovely and they are not hard to do. For a beginner, I would recommend a smaller project, such as potholders, belts, etc. This would get you accustomed to handling the hook, the yarn, the looseness or tightness of your work. In crocheting, your stitches are measured by the looseness or tightness of your work. It is always better for your stitches to be loose, that way when you turn to go in the other direction, you won't have any trouble putting the hook in the former row of stitches. Good luck.
