Why is there a need to 'poach' Rugby & Gaelic Footy players?

well consider this. an entire new team will be entering the AFL. so that means, that an extra 40+ players entering the league. I'm sure it wont hurt if one of those new players happened to be poached from RL. if say Adelaide got him, and there was no new teams coming in, then THAT would be unfair.
